This year the 80th Academy Awards® ceremony will take place Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 8 pm EST. What a great opportunity to get some friend's together for a few drinks, check out the red carpet style and find out who snags that coveted little gold guy. It doesn't have to be hard either, here are some easy (and casual) Oscar party ideas.
1. Invitations: If you don't have time to mail out invitations, Evite has some great Oscar options.

3. Have some fun: The nature of a party based on long hours of watching a TV show (that can tend to lag in parts) can be challenging for a host. Here are some ideas to make things a little more lively.
Offer your guests a chance to guess who will win the in each of the main categories. Print off nominee ballots in advance. The person who wins the most categories gets a prize. For fun, you can have guests place votes on who is best dressed, worst dressed, best borrowed bling, best hair, best looking couple, etc. Prize ideas: DVD's of nominated movies or past Oscar winners, movie tickets, a bottle of champagne or a movie themed gift basket with movie candy & popcorn.
