Sorry for the late post today! In recovery mode after a crazy {wonderful} few days of helping with Inauguration events. Typically we do not post too much behind-the-scenes stuff on the blog, but we thought it might be fun to share what we have been up to since it's a little outside our typical wedding planning!
I was flattered when asked to assist one of my favorite event planners, Andre Wells, with several events {out of many} he produced over the past few days in Washington, DC. On Friday evening, a fun party at the House of Sweden {the Swedish Embassy} for Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets for his foundation. A fun mix of athletes and other celebrities attended this swanky little bash!
Setting up at the House of Sweden - an amazing modern space on the Potomac River with great views of the Kennedy Center.
How fun are these "water" bars?
Ne-yo on right and not 100% sure but I believe this is Craig Robinson {Michelle Obama's brother}
...and from 12 am - 5 am this morning, an after the Inauguration Ball party...and boy was it a fun job. Attending the party were several hundred...a very eclectic mix of celebrities {like Jessica Alba, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Josh Lucas, Hill Harper, Rosie Perez}, musicians {like Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Buddy Guy, Lars Ulrich}, athletes, DC political figures & more. The event took place at just about the most fitting venue in town - the Manifest Hope art gallery exhibit.
All of the art celebrates President Barack Obama's life...to victory...with a diverse array of artists who contributed their vision through art...some AMAZING pieces!
The legendary blues player Buddy Guy had everyone up on their feet...
Tim Robbins enjoying Buddy playing
Between musicians, MC Lyte served as DJ
Hill Harper & Jackson Browne
Anne Curry and I...she was so personable and sweet...and was out late for having to be at work at 5:30 am for the Today Show...impressive!
It's just so surreal when things like Dr. Cuddy {Lisa Edeltstein} from House needs your help with directions to her next party stop...hope ya'll enjoyed this little inside glimpse! Since we were actually working - it was a tad hard to capture all of the things we wanted or great pictures on our dinky camera...but we'll have some better pictures soon from our photographer friends that shot the events.
Wow! Looks like it was an amazing experience!!!!
