Hope everyone had a great weekend! We are so excited today to feature one of our favorite friends and wedding photographers based out of the Washington, DC area...the amazing and talented Kate Headley.
It is actually a crime we have not featured Kate here sooner but loved the timing of today since we did a fun photoshoot with her this weekend! Kate has an INCREDIBLE eye for style and she is truly an original when it comes to thinking of fresh and fun ideas for taking photographs...she always inspires us and the images she captures could not be more breathtaking!
Instead of featuring all wedding images...we asked Kate to put together her {top 10} photographs and put in her words the reasons they are her favorites....enjoy!
{1} A sneak peak from our {ritzy bee} photoshoot. I always love my latest pictures best.
{2} This was from my 'just for fun' photoshoot I did with my sister Mary. I just loved the contrast of the grimy parking meters and her pretty soft style. My sister was such a good sport, but she did insist on keeping her nose ring in.
{3} I really never know if a concept I have in mind will work, but I adore this photo I did with Suann of Simplesong Design. It turned out to be perfect location.
{4} At Maria's request, here's my "Real Simple" shot. That's actually my nightstand. I love any bouquet in a blue canning jar. Janie Medley from Janie Medley Flora Design & The Bride's Cafe put together the bouquet.
{5} Yep, these are my sisters. They are always willing to be models for me. And I love photographing them. These two dresses I picked up at a thrift shop in Old Town Alexandria for $20. They are standing in the yard of my great-grandparent's farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We'd seen a lot of old family photos posed in that exact spot. I think this was the only shot with a straight face.
{6} This was from an engagement shoot I did with a lovely couple whose wedding I'll be shooting next fall. I love the colors and the reflection of the old row houses in the window and the overall feel.
{7} I was really proud of this photo on DC's subway. I was nervous about a crowded car and had a few ideas before getting on. I love the way it turned out, especially when I was bouncing all over the place.
{8} This is a photo I took in an old cottage on Lake Huron last summer. When I look at this photo, it just reminds me of feeling relaxed. I love details that kind of tell a story.
{9} I am not really into traditional ring shots, but when I walked to up to the table they were holding hands and I just snapped it like that.
{10} From a favorite wedding, I love this couple. The photo on the left is just a favorite of mine and the one on the right is really cool. Sometimes I like to turn off my flash and see what happens.
Here are some of the FUN shots Kate took of me over the weekend...and in true Kate Headley style, I am so ecstatic to have very untraditional head shots...
